Pupils from Greenwood and Stewarton Academy took part in a robot LEGO challenge at Ayrshire College.

School pupils from across Ayrshire competed in the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) FIRST LEGO League regional competition at Ayrshire College’s Kilmarnock Campus last year.

The competition for 9-16 year olds, organised in partnership with the Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) and IET, involved creating autonomous LEGO robots which the pupils would then programme to complete a series of timed challenges around a themed mat - under the watchful eyes of the judges at Ayrshire College.

Stewarton Academy picked up the Robot Design award, while Lamlash Primary in Arran came top for Innovation Project.

As a result of their high scores Greenwood Academy, Stewarton Academy and McLaren High School, will now take their robots forward to the Scottish finals to be held in Perth in 2020.
