An AYRSHIRE company has been hard at work raising money for its chosen charity.

Hyspec Engineering Limited, in Stewarton, have been fundraising for Macmillan throughout the last year and will continue in 2020.

In November, Hyspec decided to raise awareness for the cancer charity by having a clash of the tashes competition raising over £700.

The money will be used to help fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services including specialist nurses working throughout the NHS, a nurse-run support line and grants for cancer patients with money problems.

Hyspec Engineering has chosen Macmillan as its charity partner for 2019 and 2020 and hopes to raise thousands of pounds from staff fundraising.

Over the last 12 months they have hosted a coffee morning, a race night and took part in the Great Scottish Run 10km. Macmillan was chosen as the charity partner because it is a charity that everyone will want to get behind and support.

Julie Johnston, HR manager, said: “Hyspec raise for local charities every year and this year we wanted to continue our fundraising but get involved in something a bit different. We wanted to support a charity that would mean something to everyone and hopefully encourage the workforce to have some fun along the way. Michelle Jeffcott spent lots of time with our charity committee providing information about Macmillan and the amazing work they do. She was also full of some great ideas and so passionate about her job and from then we were sold.

“We have set ourselves a record challenge in raising £15,000 for Macmillan. We are delighted to be partnering with them and we are looking forward to what is to come.”

The money raised from the partnership will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services including specialist nurses working throughout the NHS, a nurse-run support line and grants for cancer patients with money problems.

Macmillan’s fundraising manager for The West of Scotland, Michelle Jeffcott said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the Hyspec’s charity partner for 2019 and 2020.

“At Macmillan, we know how cancer can affect everything. We’re here to help people live life, no matter what, but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.

“We are looking forward to working with the staff to help them come up with some great fundraising ideas and hope they are just as excited by this new partnership as we are.”
