PLANS are being hatched for an egg-citing event in Troon this spring, writes Stewart McConnell.

The third Eastertainment event will be held in the town centre on Saturday, April 11.

A whole host of activities with an Easter theme will be held at the event, which is being organised by Troon Churches Together in conjunction with Troon Community Council.

Arts and crafts will feature with other fun activities also planned.

The event was first dreamed up two years ago with a pilot one held initially.

And it proved so popular that it was organised again.

People from across the Troon community converged on the town for the successful event which allows children to have some seasonal fun, while at the same time the Christian message is promoted.

George Mulveny is helping organise the event for the Community Council.

He said: “The event this year will be environmentally friendly, just like many others and everyone is looking forward to it.”

Troon will also host the Odd Object competition during the Easter holidays.

It will run this year in the town from Tuesday, April 2 until Sunday, April 21.

This sees businesses throughout the town putting random objects in their windows.

They are often subtly hidden among so many other things, so it can be difficult to spot them.

This exercise is aimed at primary school children and also gives them the opportunity to go out and about during the holidays and to help get them out of the house.

Parents often help younger children with the challenge, which can also be fun for them.

There are prizes up for grabs in different categories.

So it’s well worth getting involved.
