AN IRVINE boy has helped raised hundreds of pounds for the wildlife devastated by Australian bush fires.

Seven-year-old Oliver Peck took part in a sponsored clean up of Irvine Beach at the weekend and raised more than £700 for WIRES, the volunteer animal rescue service in Australia.

Oliver’s mum Margaret said: “Watching the news and seeing the devastation the Australian bush fires have caused is absolutely heartbreaking.

“My son Oliver and I decided we had to try and do something to help the wildlife in desperate need. So, a fancy dress litter pick it is.

“With the help from our friends the Irvine Clean Up Crew, we arranged a fancy dress beach litter pick at Irvine beach on Sunday, helping two wonderful causes at the same time.”
