AN IRVINE grandmother celebrated a very special milestone this week.
Cissie Mitchell toasted her 100th birthday surrounded by her family and friends in Fullarton Care Home.
The centenarian was also paid a visit by North Ayrshire Provost, Ian Clarkson who presented her with flowers.
Cissie was born Susan Smith in Armer Place in Irvine before moving to Cochrane Street, McDonald Drive then Muir Place when she married husband Robert Mitchell in 1941.
Robert passed away 14 years ago at the age of 88.
Cissie was surrounded by her three children Jim, 76, Margaret, 74 and Robert, 71.
She also had seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
