AN OCHILTREE dad has big dreams to become Scotland’s strongest man - by living on a slimming world diet.

Doogle Schwarz is on a mission to take the title after trying hard for almost a year and following the popular weight loss diet with his wife Shereen.

But the 34-year-old police officer has plans to up his meals closer to the competition later this year to take the title.

He has now been invited to the qualifiers this April which could help him become the strongest man in the country.

Doogle, who is 6ft 2in, says he has been overwhelmed with the incredible support his community have shown him.

Doogle said: “I am probably the only strong man eating a slimming world diet.

“There I supplement meals I eat as well since I work shifts so it can be hard to squeeze a full meal in.

“My wife, Shereen, is a slimming world consultant she’s on her plan to lose weight or maintain it but I eat roughly the same as her.

“I was average before I was in the police and fitness had always been about weight loss, not gaining strength.

“Now I’m stronger than I’ve ever been after deciding to have a real crack at it.

“The whole thing is totally different from bodybuilding, that judges you on appearance and perception but to be a strong man you need incredible amounts of weight.

“To be the strongest in Scotland is the dream but I’m under no illusion about the amount of work it will take to get to that level.

“But if you don’t want to be the best in your field, why do it?

“The people in Ochiltree community have been amazing they help me out with all my equipment or whatever I need.

“I really have had amazing support from the community.”
