PATIENTS at the emergency department in Ayr hospital have been diverted to Crosshouse due to a flood.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran confirmed the ongoing issue at Ayr's A&E on social media.

It is not known the extent of the flood, but patients have been advised that Crosshouse will now be 'very busy' so should only attend if it is an amergency.

A statement from the locah health board read: "Due to a flood in the ED at Ayr Hospital, we are having to divert patients from the unit.

"If you need care but it's not an emergency, call NHS24 on 111. For emergencies, call 999 or go to Crosshouse.

"Remember the unit will be very busy and so only come if it is an emergency."
