A FEMALE driver has been injured after crashing a car between Cumnock and New Cumnock.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the A76 at around 9.40am this morning.

The single vehicle smash forced cops to shut down the road temporarily which resulted in travel disruption.

The woman was treated at the scene but did not need hospital treatment.

The road has now reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the incident which happened at around 9.40am.

“Police and ambulance services attended the A76 and found a female driver with minor injuries after crashing.

“The road was closed but is now open again.”

Bus giant Stagecoach tweeted: “Due to an accident between Cumnock and New Cumnock the services are diverting along the back road.

“The stops between the school and Pathhead will not be served, this will cause a delay in all services that use this road.”
