Abbey pupils were jumping for joy to receive a gold award for their sporting endeavours.

Abbey Primary School last week received its Gold Award from Sportscotland – which highlights and celebrates successful physical education and school sport models across Scotland.

The pupils were presented with the award, and matching flag, on Wednesday, January 29.

The bronze, silver and gold awards formally recognise a school’s achievement in putting physical education and school sport at the heart of their planning, practice and ethos.

The sportscotland School Sport Award is a national, Lottery-funded initiative designed to encourage schools to continuously improve physical education (PE) and school sport opportunities.

Well done from all at the Irvine Times.
