DEDICATED volunteers who brought hundreds of visitors to a magical fairy trail have given up responsibility to the council.

Fullarton Fairy Trail in Troon has been handed over to South Ayrshire Council after five years of enchanting events. 

South Ayrshire Council have ensured the trail ‘stays at the heart of the community’ and have promised to make it ‘bigger and better’.

Organisers of the trail shared an emotional post in which they marked the end of their hard work on the trail as they hang up their fairy wings.

The full statement read: “They say all good things come to an end, but memories last forever. The fairy helpers have today hung up their fairy wings, but we are delighted to announce that South Ayrshire Council will take on the responsibility.

“It’s been an amazing 5 years and we've enjoyed making so many people smile. Keep believing.”

South Ayrshire Council thanked organiser Donna Reid for setting up the trail and asked for fairy fans to get in touch to let them know how the attraction could be improved.

A statement on South Ayrshire Council Live, from yesterday reads: “From today, February 3 we’ll be we’ll be looking after the Fairy Trail in Fullarton Woods, Troon.

“The fairies are for everyone to enjoy and we want to make sure the trail stays at the heart of the community.
