Police responded to reports of a disturbance in Irvine's McDonald's last night.

Police were called out to the Riverway Retail Park at around 9pm on Friday [February 7] after reports of a fight in the fast food branch - which it's claimed involved a chair being thrown.

McDonald's told the Times none of their employees were injured during the incident - with police saying no criminality was established by officers when they arrived and no further complaints made.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a disturbance at a premises in the Riverway Retail Park at around 9.10pm last night.

"Police arrived however no criminality was established and no complaint was made."

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “The safety and security of our employees and customers is our absolute priority, and it is extremely disappointing to hear about this sort of behaviour in one of our restaurants.

“Thankfully none of our crew members were hurt in the incident and we are continuing to support the police."
