A HUGE tree has blocked an Irvine Road as strong winds from Storm Ciara continues to batter North Ayrshire.
The tree collapsed onto Perceton Road after its trunk snapped during another day of extreme weather.
Road officers from North Ayrshire Council rushed to the scene and took the decision to shut down the road to protect motorists.
Officers are currently working to remove the tree and ensure the area is safe.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said: “Officers attended to the scene promptly and took the decision to temporarily close the road in the interest of public safety.
"The tree is in the process of being removed and the area made safe. We expect the road to be re-opened before the end of the day.”
