Two people are in hospital after a couple carried out a shocking assault involving a blade in broad daylight.
Police were called out just before 1pm today [Thursday, February 13] with several vehicles seen around McKinley Crescent through the afternoon.
A man and woman were arrested with two men rushed to hospital with at least one understood to have suffered stab wounds.
Inspector Raymond Ferguson from Irvine Police Station said: "Officers were called to a property in the McKinlay Crescent area of Irvine at around 1pm on Thursday, February 13 following a report of an assault.
"Two men have been taken to hospital for treatment by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 1458 of 13 February, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
