A NEW Mexican food wagon has been given the go ahead to sit at the Harbourside.

The Taste of New Mexico, which has been in operation around Irvine in recent months, got the greenlight to sit at the Harbourside for three years.

A planning application to site the gourmet snack wagon at the car park near the Big Idea Bridge was approved subject to conditions this month.

The application says the van would provide hot New Mexican style food as well as hot and cold drinks.

It will be in operation during the Spring and Summer months and be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays.

Planning chiefs imposed a number of conditions on accepting the application.

The mobile food trailer shall be limited to a period of three years from the date of the decision due to the future development potential of the site and surrounding area.

When the trailer is in operation, a bin must be provided adjacent to the mobile food trailer and available for public use at all times

Operating times are to be restricted to between 7am and 8pm, with hot food unit shall be removed from site outwith these times with all refuse cleared.
