FITNESS machines in Ayrshire have proved that they are tough as nails after completing an SAS-style bootcamp.

Similar to Channel Four’s ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’, 17 super-fit men and women took part in the ‘Unbreakable’ challenge.

And even better, they raised money for Arran Mountain Rescue Centre in the process.

Organised by well-known Irvine fanatic Scott Brown, the recruits set off on the mentally and physically draining course on Saturday, February 15 at 7am.

The majority of the event took place at Craigengillan Estate in Dalmellington, near Loch Doon, with the bus setting off from Dundonald after a kit check before heading to Irvine pier.

From freezing water tests to test their bodies, to assessing the recruit’s mental discipline, all of those who took part are grateful for the invaluable experience.

It had been due to be held in Arran but Storm Dennis ensured otherwise with CalMac’s ferry service cancelled for the weekend.

But Scott, 37, revealed that stringent, behind the scenes planning was executed perfectly to make sure it went ahead.

This was the second 24-hour body-gruelling assault course that Scott Brown Next Level Gym and Bootcamp have organised in the last year.

And out of the 17 brave participants, who paid £100 each to enter, THREE managed to finish the brutal one day assessment.

All of those who attended the event will be provided with a certificate to congratulate them on how long they endured the challenge – whether that was one hour or the full 24.

Afterwards, Scott said: “It’s all over, Unbreakable Two has finally finished.

“Well done to the three finishers – Jamie Burns, Vivien Watson and Sandi Spence who all smashed it.

“Also, a huge well done to everyone who took part. You all did amazing especially in those conditions.

“A big thank you to everyone who helped with the event including my staff and Craig Bilham Transport in Irvine for providing mini bus cover throughout.

“As the weeks went on and we knew the weather was going to be bad, it was always going to be a test.

“After seeing what the weather was going to be like we had a plan B.

“The guys didn’t know that – they still thought we were going to Arran.

“Anybody that steps on that bus I take my hat off to them because it is such a gruelling event.”

The fitness guru also confirmed that a third ‘Unbreakable’ event will take place during the Summer later in 2020.
