ELDERLY residents in Saltcoats are tackling social isolation through remembering football.

A group meets every Tuesday at Saltcoats Library to discuss various topics surrounding the beautiful game.

Arranged by KA Leisure coach Paul Todman the group has been running just over a month, and has went from a fortnightly event to weekly, after members benefiting from the social interaction.

The group share memories and make use of a Football Memories box kindly donated to them by the SFA West Region.

Each week topics can vary from talking about an old Scotland 11, or Rangers 11 and of course talking about local legend and Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox.

Paul told the Herald: “They have become good friends because of this. Through the common interests from it. We might start about a great Scotland 11, but it could move on to Bobby Lennox.

“You never know where the story will end up.”
