A man has been reported to police after an indecent exposure incident at Irvine beach.

Police are appealing for further witnesses after the shocking incident was reported by a dog walker at 4.20pm on Wednesday near Marine Drive.

The woman was walking her dogs down the beach where she reported seeing a male with his trousers at his ankles whilst 'playing with himself' and looking at her.

He was then said to have stopped and ran back behind the sand dune when a man approached from the opposite direction.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 4.20pm on Wednesday, February 26, police were made aware of a male allegedly exposing himself in Marine Drive, Irvine and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"Police are appealing for witnesses, and request that anyone who may have information, or were in the area at the time of the incident to call 101 quoting incident 2431 of the 26th February."
