Communities have rallied round a Kilwinning boy and his family to help him make memories following a tragic diagnosis.

Seth Gardner, 7, was rushed to hospital on his sixth birthday on November 9, 2018, after suffering from headaches where a CT scan showed a mass in his brain.

Following emergency surgery to relieve pressure, he underwent an operation to remove the tumour and recovered well.

Later that month, mum Kimberley found out that Seth has large cell/anaplastic medulloblastoma of the posterior fossa which has spread to his spine.

Seth started radiotherapy right away and after six weeks he was given four rounds of high dose chemotherapy.

On July 4, 2019, he was given the all clear.

Sadly, the seven-year-old’s most recent MRI scan found that the cancer had returned.

Now, his loving family have made it their mission to make as many memories as they can while they have the chance and the people of Ayrshire have joined them.

The Auld Brig in Irvine hosted a fundraiser on Wednesday, February 19.

David McComb, who works at the Wetherspoons, told the Times: “We raised £740, and it’s still going up as people are buying raffle tickets.”

Kind people had donated prizes for the tombola, and bought or baked lovely cakes.

A fundraising page on the Gofundme website set up by Seth’s mum has reached an incredible £6,075.

Kilmberley has posted updates to the site, which read: “You’ve all been absolutely amazing.

“I’ve been asked to up the target as there is still people who want to donate.

“All money raised will be spent making as many memories for as long as we can. So thank you so very much for all your support.

“We are looking forward to taking him to Legoland when it reopens and to Disneyland soon.”

Ayrshire Fight Academy are putting on Seth’s Fight Night with all funds going to the family on Friday, March 20.

Blacklands Bowling Club are hosting a fundraiser on March 22, from 2 until 4pm.

The Alton Inn has organised a darts competition with all fundsa going towards Seth and another boy, Ace, on March 22, from noon.
