Police are appealing for information after reports of bogus callers claiming to be from the council.
It is believed a man, who may be acting alone, is attending addresses reporting to be from the Local
Authority and offering to carryout work including gardening.
Investigations are underway after incidents in Stewarton and Bonnyton, Kilmarnock on Wednesday, March 11 2020.
Safer Communities Officer PC Marshall said: “Doorstep criminals are determined to convince residents that they are from reputable organisations or represent trusted traders.
“We would advise residents not to deal with cold callers who attend at their door. It is important not to let people in that you don’t know and to always ask to see identification. If you don’t want the service they are offering it is better to leave the door closed and politely decline the service.
If you witness any suspicious activity in your area you can contact your local policing team by calling 101 (always 999 in an emergency) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
