Plans to convert Irvine’s former fishmongers into a cafe have been approved.
Proposals to form a coffee shop and make alterations to shopfront the B listed building were submitted to North Ayrshire Council this month.
The planning statement said: “The nature of the new Class 3 Food and Drink premises is to establish a new coffee shop in Irvine High Street, allowing for both sit in and take away customers. The prime location is suited to commuters to and from the High Street and adjacent to a popular bus stop.
“The primary function will be to sell coffee, however lightly fried and deli style food will also be sold - cakes, wraps, toasties, baked potatoes, salads, and hot filled breakfast rolls.”
No chips or deep fried food will be served.
