An 18-year-old from Irvine admitted carrying a machete in the mall.
However a not guilty plea from Taylor Gorman to shouting and swearing at a convicted sex offender was accepted by prosecutors.
Gorman, of Doon Court, Irvine, admitted carrying a bladed article without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, namely a machete, while in the Rivergate Shopping Centre on February 29.
A not guilty plea to a second charge of threatening and abusive behaviour by shouting abusive comments towards a man in the Rivergate on February 28 was accepted by the Procurator Fiscal when Gorman appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last Wednesday.
He will return to court for sentencing at a later date.
