A FORMER bank building in Beith could be set to be turned into a takeaway.

Plans have been submitted to change the use of the vacant bank on Eglinton Street to form a hot food takeaway with small seating area, lower ground floor residential flat and the erection of a flue to rear.

The plans state a takeaway with a small seated area would best utilise the building with the lower ground floor with a fine outlook to the rear becoming a flat with garden with an accessible toilet.

It is anticipated that opening hours of the takeaway would be Sunday to Thursday 10am-11pm and Friday and Saturday 10am-12midnight.

Plans state: “This small development will afford the opportunity for this unit to provide a service to the local community as well as an additional residential unit."

“Whilst seating within the takeaway will be limited it will nonetheless offer a quality venue both to those wishing to use the premises as café and those availing themselves of the takeaway. The pedestrian activity generated by this new use will help to animate the street.”
