POLICE are on the hunt for a 'chubby' man with 'stained yellow teeth' after an attempted robbery on a 14-year-old in Kilwinning. 

In an appeal, officers asked the publice for information following the attempted robbery in the town on Monday, March 16.

Around 8.35 am, a 14-year-old male was walking along the footpath between McGavin Way and Claremont Crescent when he was approached and grabbed by a man who demanded money from him before making off towards the Townhead area of Kilwinning.

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s, around 5ft 3ins to 5ft 4ins, chubby build, dark messy brown hair, stained yellow teeth and stubble. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a maroon zipper top and blue jeans.
