A 16-year-old girl was arrested for an alleged assault and causing a disturbance while police probed claims of a separate golf club attack.
Police attended the Redburn area of Irvine just after 6am last Thursday [March 26] after reports of an assault involving a golf club.
Police told the Times last week enquiries were ongoing into this incident, with the victim not requiring medical attention.
While investigating this alleged assault, a 16-year-old girl is understood to have started causing a disturbance and was then arrested.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "At 6.02am on Thursday, March 26 2020, police were made aware of an assault that had just occurred in the Castlepark/Vineburgh area of Irvine.
"Police attended and enquiries are ongoing. The victim did not require medical attention."
“In Redburn Place, Irvine a 16-year-old female was arrested for an alleged assault and causing a disturbance.
“The female was released and will appear at court at a later date.
“A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
