The fire brigade was called out to deal with a large grass fire at around 7pm on Monday evening.
The blaze, at over 12 foot high could be seen on the moorland from Carrick Drive near Irvine Racecourse.
Nobody is said to have been hurt by the incident and the fire was quickly extinguished by the two engines that were sent to deal with it.
The police were not informed by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service owing to pressures relating to Coronavirus and so the cause and possible perpetrators of the fire is still unknown.
