Scotland is in lockdown. Shops are closing and newspaper sales are falling fast. We’re not exaggerating when we say that the future of the Irvine Times, and the vital local news service we’ve provided since 1873, is under threat.
Please consider supporting the Irvine Times in whatever way you can – by paying just 90p for a copy of the paper, when you’re shopping for essential supplies for yourself and others, or by subscribing to our e-edition here.
Thanks – and stay safe.

Lawthorn pupils had a fun time learning about teamwork during a week away before the lockdown.
Youngsters from Primary 7 enjoyed an adventure down to Barcaple where they enjoyed a host of outdoor activities.
Pupils took on in various assault coarse obstacles, archery, climbing and had a rare time away.
After the trip, a spokesperson from Lawthorn Primary school said: “Amazing week at Barcaple with our P7 pupils.
“On our way home with lots of dirty clothes ready to be washed. Hopefully they will all sleep tonight.”
