A DJ who has been playing live lockdown sets from his Girdle Toll garden has raised hundreds to help community centres bounce back.

Elliot Boyce, set up a fundraiser to accompany his latest outdoor gig Lockdown Live in a bid to support the hubs helping those most in need in Irvine during the coronavirus crisis.

Irvine Times:

The 22-year-old was amazed with the response after almost £500 was donated during his gig on Saturday, April 11.

He told the Times: “I’ve been DJ’ing out my back door doing a live set every week. I decided to set up a Go Fund Me to give something back. Every Saturday I’ll be putting the link up.

“We’ve already had £460 raised, it’s amazing. I think if we keep doing it, we could get over a thousand, why not.”

“The groups I’m trying to support do amazing things all year long, they do great stuff for the community.”

The money will be split up between Vineburgh, Redburn and Fullarton community centres to help during the lockdown, and to come support them when it is lifted.

Elliot has been played his lockdown gigs over the past few weeks.

The DJ who was a hit down Irvine beach last year, with an open air impromptu set, decided to bring some entertainment to his neighbours, and live stream the set for other fans to enjoy.

Playing a set of 90s classics and current pop tracks, Elliot has been thrilled with the response.

He said: “Some people are planning their week round it. It is giving them something to look forward to.

“I’ve goy my own DJ business, and I’ll be playing anything to big gigs, or retirement dos, but everything is cancelled. I just thought I’d give something to the people round about us to enjoy.

“I got thousands of people writing positive comments. I’ve had over 40,000 different people watching it.”

The two-hour sets are streamed live every Saturday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Elliot added: “The whole message of Lockdown Live is, stay home stay safe, support our NHS and thank you key workers.

“It’s to spread a positive message you can still stay home and enjoy yourself.”
