Philippa Whitford MP has taken part in Ayrshire Hospice’s 2.6 Challenge by cycling to Troon and taking a dip in the sea to raise money for the charity.

Ms Whitford set up a justgiving page at the weekend and has already raised a fantastic £1,745 for Ayrshire Hospice.

Ms Whitford said:  “As an Ambassador for the Ayrshire Hospice, and a former breast cancer surgeon, I know the great support they provide to patients at the end of life and their families.

“Because of the COVID19 lockdown, they can't hold fundraising events so I want to try and help by getting on my bike – but in my Easter Bunny costume!

“From a freezing Easter Dip – to a sunny cycle! If you are able to support my fundraiser at this time – thank you.”

Irvine Times:

Ayrshire Hospice’s 2.6 Challenge is a campaign encouraging locals to take part in an activity of their choice based around the number ‘26’ with the challenge having taken place on Sunday, April 26.

The idea is to raise money for UK charities after thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19.

Taking to Twitter, Ms Whitford urged locals to cheer her on if they saw her out and about.

The MP said: “Never been able to run a marathon anyway but up for #TwoPointSixChallenge in my silly Easter bunny costume – cycling round Troon 12-1 on 26 April.

"If you see me, give me a wave and, if you can, please support the Ayrshire Hospice in their great work.”
