Two members of the Wednesday Club at Medda Park are growing their beards to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice.

Ross Weeks and David Simpson are supporting the Hospice as fundraising events have been cancelled due to Covid-19.

They have already raised over £1,000.

Ross said: “I’m 71 and Davie’s not far behind me so we decided we could at least do something to help. A lot of people have gotten behind us.

“I’ve had family and friends go through the Ayrshire Hospice so I thought it was a good charity to raise money for because of the circumstances. I suppose everyone has someone they know that has went through the Hospice at some point.”

The football fans are pledging to grow their beards until the football resumes.

Ross said: “We said we’re not going to shave until Medda Club reopens and the football resumes.

“Maybe we’ll get volunteers to shave the two of us after our first pint at the social club for another sponsorship.”
