AN IRVINE couple living with cerebral palsy have both shaved their heads in a bid to raise money and pay tribute to the NHS.

Cameron Brown and his wife Emma, 42, decided to do something for the health care heroes on the frontline fighting coronavirus.

The couple who have been married for 16 years decided to get a new hairdo together.

Cameron, 46 who works in the Paper Mill, is currently furloughed for six weeks, whilst Emma needs a wheelchair due to her condition, and is looked after at home by carers.

Cameron told the Times: “My wife and I both have cerebral palsy. We both thought we’d like to do something for the NHS. They’ve been there for us so many times.”

Last week the couple braved the shave and set up a fundraiser page which has already hit over the initial target of £1,200, with one anonymous donor pledging £250

Irvine Times:

Cameron was inspired by the regular 8pm clap for carers and the NHS and although he misses his hair, the couple feel it was a fitting way to show their gratitude to the NHS.

He said: “It was all just to say thanks to the NHS. And pay tribute to all these people who are dying because of this awful virus.

“Me and Emma both have our challenge, we are both vulnerable, but we’re doing well on lockdown.

“She gets plenty of support from carers.”

Cameron joked, “We are going to save some money not having to get a haircut for a while.

“Some people have been calling us baldly, but it’s been worth it. I am looking forward to getting my hair back.
