Police are probing an assault in Eglinton Park where a sixteen-year-old was attacked by several other youths.
Police confirmed that officers were made of aware of a disturbance while patrolling Eglinton Park on Saturday night which is understood to have involved a number of teenagers.
A 16-year old boy was assaulted during the incident and taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he has since been discharged.
Police say enquiries are ongoing to identify the culprits and trace any witnesses.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At about 7pm on Saturday June 20 police whilst on routine patrol were made aware of a disturbance that had occurred within Eglinton Park, Irvine, during which a 16-year-old youth was assaulted.
"The youth was required to attend Crosshouse Hospital for treatment for his injuries, before being discharged into the care of his family.
"Enquiries are ongoing to trace witnesses and identify those responsible.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Irvine Police Office on 101 quoting incident 3537 of the 20th."
