A man was hospitalised following a car crash by the Glasgow Green on Saturday afternoon. 

Two cars collided on Clyde Street around 5.30pm. 

Firefighters were raced to the scene where it is understood they had to cut the man out of the car. 

Saltmarket was closed between Greendyke Street and Clyde Street for almost three hours, Glasgow City Council confirmed.

Albert Bridge and a stretch between Crown Street to Ballater Street were also cordoned off. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police received a report of a two car crash on Clyde Street, Glasgow around 5.30pm on Saturday, 4 July, 2020.

"Emergency services attended and one man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. The road was re-opened around 8.10pm."
