Footways will be temporarily widened to provide more space for physical distancing in Easterhouse.

Work on implementing the temporary infrastructure started today and is due to be completed by July 13.

On-street parking will be suspended where necessary as the road space will be repurposed to make it easier for people to move around where space is limited.

It comes as part of Glasgow City Council's £3.5 million Spaces for People programme, devised to adapt the city to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Three roads will be affected by the changes: Bogbain Road, Shandwick Street and Westerhouse Road.

Bogbain Road will see its northbound carriageway narrowed by 2 metres for a total of 42 metres, whereas Shadwick Street will see the same for a total distance of 65 metres.

The bus stop on Westerhouse Road will be removed and two new temporary bus stops will be created on the inside lane of the southern carriageway.

All temporary infrastructure will remain in place for at least ten weeks before being reviewed by the Scottish Government.
