East Ayrshire Police made a number of arrests last week for crimes of a lesser nature.

A spokesperson for the force revealed the details of the following crimes that they have been dealing with in recent days.

At 10.30am on Tuesday, June 30 they seized a vehicle from a 33-year-old woman who had allegedly been driving it illegally on Holmburn Road in Netherthird. The woman was found to have neither insurance for the car nor a valid license.

The woman, as well as having the vehicle taken away, has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Also last week, after enquiries lasting more than a month, a 30-year-old culprit was identified for vandalism to a window in the village of Catrine, on Mill Street, overnight on May 19 and 20.

Also in Catrine, around 1.20am on Thursday, June 25, a 32-year-old man was arrested and charged for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol after he failed a roadside breath test on Sorn Street in the village.

The force has been keen to make the public aware of the work they do, with often only the most serious of crimes being reported. Despite most of the country still being under some form of lockdown, they’ve still had work to do.

All of the above examples were part of a series of releases from East Ayrshire Police they ran on Twitter called #NotTheNewsAtTen, an attempt to highlight their activity in the area.

On Wednesday they were also out and about patrolling Loch Doon after receiving reports from members of the public about anti-social behaviour down at the beauty spot near Dalmellington.
