For our young people, the summer holidays are a time for leaving the school building behind to enjoy the company of friends and family. However this year, to help our Key Workers, many school buildings will remain open to provide emergency childcare.
These Summer Education Hubs are run by staff from both East Ayrshire Leisure and East Ayrshire Council Vibrant Communities, providing a wide range of fun activities to ensure that our young people get the most from their summer in these challenging circumstances.
While it has only been a week the young people seem to be having fun.
Erin, aged eight, from the Auchinleck Hub said “I have enjoyed planting sunflowers and potatoes” while Kirk, also aged eight, enjoyed making the stress balls and arts and crafts.
In the Drongan Hub Cameron said: “I like the sports zone the most, especially football practice.”
At the Greenmill hub the young people had a fantastic introduction to First Aid and enjoyed taking part in “Just Dance” activities.
