A Kilwinning man has faced an attempted murder accusation after a man was left with critical injuries.

John Pollock, appeared from custody after his arrest in connection with a disturbance in Sloan Avenue, Irvine just after 10pm on Wednesday [July 15] - in which it is claimed left the victim horrifically injured.

Pollock, 43, faced a charge of assault to severe injury, permanent impairment and danger to life and a second charge of attempted murder.

Pollock, who's address was listed as Kilwinning, entered no plea to the charges when he appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today [Friday, July 17].

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Pollock will return to court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a disturbance in Sloan Avenue, Irvine, around 10.20pm on Wednesday, July 15.

"A 42-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital Crosshouse with serious injuries.

"He is described as being in a critical but stable condition.

"A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, July 17."
