Two men have been arrested after reports of doorstep crime.

The men, aged 28 and 37, were arrested and charged for alleged fraud in Crossdene Road, Crosshouse between Friday, July 3 and Monday, July 6.

A full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Chief Inspector for East Ayrshire Steven Meikle said: “This type of crime remains a priority for police and the arrests follow extensive enquiry by local officers.

“Our Shut Out Scammers campaign aims to highlight our work with partners, in targetting rogue traders and bogus callers, and raise awareness of the common methods used by criminals to target often the most vulnerable in our communities.

“We must all look out for each other, report any suspicious activity and share the key campaign messages which include not to deal with uninvited callers at the door.”
