AN IRVINE man accused of assault and robbery as well as allegedly brandishing a blade after a drug raid on a pharmacy will remain behind bars for now.

Sean Brannigan, 38, appeared from custody last week for a second hearing following his arrest in connection with a robbery at Boots in Irvine town centre at around 4.20pm on Tuesday, July 21.

Brannigan faced one charge of assault and robbery when he appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and a second charge of having a bladed or pointed weapon in a public place after his arrest over alleged involvement in the incident.

Brannigan again entered no plea when he faced the allegations during the hearing last Thursday [July 30].

He was fully committed with Brannigan, who’s address was listed as Irvine, remaining remanded in custody.

He will return to Kilmarnock Sherriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with this robbery.

“He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday, July 23. A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
