Twenty new homes could be built in the centre of Dreghorn after plans were approved.

An application for the homes in Annick Drive, which would include two-bedroom two-storey cottage flats, were approved subject to conditions by North Ayrshire’s planning department last week.

The application from developers Denham/Benn sought planning permission in principle for the development, citing homes constructed in Stanley Road, Ardrossan as a precedent.

Planning documents state: “The proposed site is located in the centre of the village of Dreghorn, adjacent to Annick Water, and in a predominantly residential area.

“The development would comprise of 20 two-bedroom two-storey cottage flats, accessed from Annick Drive.

“The use, scale and proportion of the development fits within the local context. The design incorporates contemporary features, detailing and landscaping to enhance the character of the local area.

“The proposed concept incorporates 150 per cent parking provision with 30 spaces indicated.

“Hard and soft landscaping would act as a buffer between the proposed development, the access road/parking area and neighbouring properties.

“The development would be an appropriate extension on the existing development to the south and west, offering views over Annick Water to the north.”

North Ayrshire planning department’s case officer said: “Plans provided with the application - which are indicative only - show a development of 20 two-bedroom two-storey cottage flats, with 30 parking spaces and associated landscaping.”
