TWO dogs became internet stars during lockdown after their Troon sports commentator owner delivered professional coverage of their activities.

Olive vs Mabel became the Federer v Nadal for BBC commentator Andrew Cotter. who filmed his two pets in hilarious fashion as major sporting events were cancelled.

The famed voice of Wimbledon, the Olympics and the Six Nations instead narrated the two Labrador Retrievers to an audience of millions who watched the two dogs compete with each other on YouTube.

Now the Serena and Venus Williams of the doggy world are set to raise funds for a charity which supports children and adults with disabilities.

Sense for Scotland have recruited the star canine’s as they go walkies for ‘Paws for Sense Scotland’.

The charity, which celebrates its 35th birthday this year, is asking dog owners to ‘take the lead’ and help raise £35 by walking 3.5km on Sunday, September 20.

Andrew Cotter, said: “Olive and Mabel will definitely be walking their 3.5 km on Sunday 20th September - they’re very much looking forward to it.”

Olive said: “Woof” and Mabel declined to comment.

Jen Niven, Head of Fundraising, said: “The number of sign ups we’ve had so far really breeds confidence, and we’re delighted that Olive and Mabel are getting involved.

“Their antics brought some much-needed light relief during lockdown, a time when some of the people we support and their families struggled.”
