SECURITY at an Ayr primary school is being reviewed after a Palestinian flag was raised on Saturday.

The flag was seen flying high above Ayr Grammar Primary School after the roof was accessed from the outside.

It was first feared that a major security breach saw those responsible enter the school but that has since been denied by South Ayrshire Council.

Council officials now look to “review external access” to the school after the stunt which left the flag displayed until Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday a spokesperson from the council said: “The Palestinian flag which is flying at Ayr Grammar Primary School was not put up by South Ayrshire Council or Ayr grammar Primary School.”

Today when contacted by the Ayr Advertiser a council spokesperson added: “The flag has been removed. Access to the roof was not gained through the school, so we are reviewing external access, as a result of this incident.”

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
