Nearly a hundred new houses could be built in Girdle Toll if plans are approved.

Plans for 92 detached and semi-detached homes on land North East Of Littlestane Cottage on Irvine’s Lochlibo Road have now been submitted

The Dawn Homes development plans, which include roads, parking, amenity open space and drainage were validated by planning chiefs last week.

Planning documents state: “The proposal is for residential development on a former agricultural area immediately to the north of the Girdle Toll residential development area of Irvine.

“The previous/current use was grassed agricultural land. Lawthorn Primary School lies immediately to the south.

“Two existing residential properties: ‘Old Toll House’ and ‘Balgray’ sit within a triangular area at the road junction with Lochlibo Road and Littlestane Cottage sits on the far side of Lochlibo Road to the south of the development area.

“The Sourlie Roundabout is located to the north west of the development area where Lochlibo road links with Cairnmount Road.

“The site lies to the east of the A78 which links to Irvine and Ayr to the south and Ardrossan and Greenock to the west and north for major traffic movement.

“Lochlibo Road links to the north to Lugton, Barrhead and Glasgow, to the south it links to Irvine Town Centre, Stewarton via the Girdle Toll Stevenson, and Kilwinning to the west.

“It is envisaged that a footpath network will be created within the site with linkages to the wider area network, serving nearby amenities and the cyclepath network.”
