A THIRD primary school in South Ayrshire is dealing with a confirmed case of coronavirus.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran, have confirmed today that three primary schools, and one secondary in the county are the focus of a track and trace operation.
Last week we told how staff at Kingcase Primary in Prestwick and Annbank Primary in Mossblown were self-isolating after coming into contact with a confirmed case of the virus.
The health boards Test and Protect team are identifying close contacts of infected individuals and are advising them to self-isolate for 14 days.
It comes after parents of pupils at Belmont Academy were contacted by the NHSAA Public Health department on Sunday (September 12).
They were advised the risk to pupils is “very low”.
Lynne McNiven, Director of Public Health said: “NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Health Protection Team is carrying out COVID-19 contact tracing around three primary schools and one secondary school in South Ayrshire.
“Individuals identified as close contacts are being advised by the Test and Protect team to self-isolate at home for 14 days.
“We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect pupils and staff.
“To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.”
