A KILWINNING lad has completed a major challenge to run 10 marathons in 10 days with an extended run to Celtic Park.

Hoops daft Jordan Reid aimed for a dream finish after he got through hours of gruelling runs around Ayrshire.

The 24-year-old clocked up extra miles running 33.6 miles to the home of his team to cap off a successful fundraising effort for a mental health charity.

We told last week how Jordan had overcome his own demons with a gambling addiction by pounding the pavements for the Scottish Association of Mental Health (SAMH).

On Thursday, September 17 he set off for his final run taking him an eye-watering six hours to complete taking him through the Garnock Valley through to Renfrewshire then onto Glasgow.

On completing his challenge an exhausted Jordan said simply: “No more running.”

But he was delighted to reveal he’d smashed his “biggest challenge yet”.

He told the Times: “I wanted to run to Glasgow for the last run and finish at Celtic Park.

“It was just an extra motivation to complete my challenge there.

Irvine Times:

“It was tough mentally and physically with it being the last one, I had to even divert my route because one of the bridges was closed off.

“My feet were absolutely on fire with two mile to go, but I just got an adrenaline buzz and made it to the finish line.

It was an unbelievable feeling. I couldn’t have done it without the runners that ran with me especially big Levi on the last day.”

Jordan has hailed the support he had from his family and Fit Ayrshire Dads who ran along with him.

He added: “I couldn’t have done it without all the support of my mum and dad, my family and my girlfriend.

“The way all the Fit Ayrshire Dads rallied around me was so special to get so much extra support.”

Jordan has managed to raise well over his initial target for the charity SAMH.

He added: “This was for a charity that is so close to my heart and other members of the family too. It’s amazing the support and donations from everyone. We’re now up to £2500 for SAMH which is just unreal.”

Jordan has set his sights on further challenges after a long rest.
