A CUMNOCK mum took part in the Virtual Kiltwalk for her disabled son who suffers from spina bifida.
Michelle Bickerton, 44, headed to Troon for the six mile walk on Saturday, September 12.
The plan was to head to Dundee to take part in the last available Kiltwalk but the event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Instead they headed to the Ayrshire coast, with 14-year-old Sam joining in.
We told before how Michelle was desperate to raise money for her teenage son who will require major surgery that will leave him reliant on a wheelchair.
The mum-of-two feared her son would become a “prisoner” in his own home with the house not wheelchair accessible.
The procedure will leave Sam disabled for at least 18 months and doctors believed it would be a “miracle” if he would be able to walk independently again.
Michelle was able to raise £4,465.57 through the Kiltwalk to go towards plans to renovate the house.
