A woman was left shaken after an attempted robber by another female as she withdrew cash in Irvine late at night.
The incident happened around 00.35am on Thursday, October 1, at the filling Station on Kilwinning Road.
A 43-year-old woman was withdrawing money from the ATM when she was approached by a woman and threatened.
A member of the public intervened and the suspect made off in the direction of Fleming Terrace.
The suspect is described as white, around 5ft and slim. She was wearing dark clothing, a dark face mask and a snood.
Detective Constable Lee Duncan, of Saltcoats CID said: “The victim was not injured during the incident but left shaken.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who intervened and who haven’t already spoken to officers to come forward.
“We would also appeal to anyone who was around the garage at the time to get in touch with police if they have any information which may assist us. I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area to check dashcam footage.”
