A MAN was attacked in his own home in Irvine as his kids and partner slept.
Police are now appealing for information about the incident they describe as 'sickening'.
The incident took place at around 3am on Friday, October 9, in the Tarryholm Drive area of Irvine.
A 49-year-old man was in his home with his partner and young children when he was attacked by three men who had gained access to the building.
The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
One of the men who committed the assault is described as being around 6ft, wearing all black clothing and a black face covering.
Detective Constable Ross Keenan, from Saltcoats CID, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries into this sickening attack, including viewing CCTV footage and engaging with members of the local community.
“We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact police on 101, quoting incident 0370 of October 9.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
