Kilwinning pupils were presented with prizes for helping name a new housing development.

Willow Gardens in Kilwinning was named by pupils at Abbey Primary following a competition earlier this year for pupil.

Now the winners – Kaitlyn Wilson now in P6/7 and Lewis Elliot now in 1st year at Kilwinning Academy – revealed the first signage for the Taylor Wimpey homes where pre-construction of 198 new homes is now underway.

The pupils won £50 book tokens and £250 for school funds.

Andrew Falconer, Principal Teacher at Abbey Primary said: “We are very happy that both Kaitlyn and Lewis have had the opportunity to make their mark locally by naming Taylor Wimpey’s development, and we are also delighted with the additional school donation of £250. Our plan is to use this money to buy maths games to enhance the maths and numeracy curriculum in school.”

Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director adds: “It is incredibly important to us to get involved in the local communities in which we build, and we are delighted to confirm the name of our development - Willow Gardens - combines the best of two competition entries from Kaitlyn and Lewis, and we are looking forward to creating a development that will from part of the existing local community and be a great place to call home.”

Pre-construction work for its development of 198 new homes at Willow Gardens off Dalry Road in Kilwinning is well underway.

This will be Taylor Wimpey’s first development in the local area of North Ayrshire for some time, and it will deliver a choice of two, three, and four bedroom homes to provide a range of options for first time buyers and growing families.
