This has been an unprecedented year in the history of Irvine Lasses Burns Club with lockdown happening shortly after celebrating their 45th Anniversary.

The Lasses normally meet each month in the Wellwood Burns Centre and Museum but, as the Museum is closed until at least April 2021, it will be some time before the Lasses can meet face-to-face.

But not to be deterred in keeping in touch with each other and further embracing their continued interest in our National Bard, and aspects of Scottish Language and Culture, the Lasses have been meeting online through Zoom.

Their next on-line meeting is on Tuesday, October 27 at 7.30 pm when the speaker will be Jean Swinley, a volunteer at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, who will talk about some of the items in the Museum.

President Rosemary Murdoch said “Like me, many of our Lasses have probably visited the Museum in the past but it is always good to learn more about the objects on display. Afterwards there’s always an opportunity to have a catch up with friends in the club. Other speakers are being arranged for future meetings, and I would encourage new members to join us”.

“Catch up with us soon on Zoom.”
