Auchinleck Talbot boss Tommy Sloan has revealed that rival teams have already been on the phone to him about signing his players after the club withdrew from this season’s West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL).

Talbot are one of five clubs in the Premier Division who have pulled out of the new set-up for this season over concerns relating to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sloan admits that due to the decision there is the risk of losing players from his squad to other clubs.

He said: “Obviously it is disappointing to withdraw but after discussions with the committee it was the only decision that could be made in the circumstances and I think it was the right call.

“I have had enquires already for my players. The phone has been ringing because clubs are looking at it and thinking if Talbot are not playing I wonder if we can get their players?”

“It’s all raw at the moment. I would like to keep the vast majority of players at the club for when we start again.

“There is always the possibility of losing players but we will have a chat with them and take it from there.

“It’s a situation that has never happened before.”
